If it’s a winter evening, you are watching the snow falling out of the window and sitting near fire or you are thinking to enjoy a movie, play some game, or simply want to have fun with friends are family, all you need are popcorns. These are healthy snacks that can be prepared quickly and are good for us as well.
My kids love popcorn and I always try to come up with some new recipe, so they can enjoy popcorn even more.
In this post, I will share few amazing popcorn recipes, by which you can give variation to your taste of popcorn.
We will prepare following popcorn recipes;
- Caramel popcorn,
- then chocolate popcorn balls,
- white chocolate Popcorn and
- finally spicy popcorn.
First I would like to share with you, how to pop the popcorns.
You can pop the corn in a microwave or on a stove (fire). It’s up to you.
How to popcorn in a microwave?
Take a microwave-safe container with a lid. Add a half cup of corn in the container and put in a microwave, do not close the lid tightly, just cover the container loosely so when the corns will pop they do not dance around in a microwave. Turn the microwave on high and then set timer for 2-3 minutes, depends on the power of your microwave. For me, it takes three minutes. You are done, you can feel the nice aroma and the also enjoyed the booms.
How to pop the corn on fire?
You need a pot with a lid and handle.
Turn the fire to high and place a pot on the fire and cover with a lid. Let the pan get warm up for at least two minutes. After two minutes open the lid and place your hand on top of the pot to feel the heat, if you feel heat reaching your hand, its time to drop a half cup of the corn in your pot.
Drop the corn in the pot and cover with the lid. I normally let the process of cooking proceed by continuously moving the pot by holding from a handle, so the corn does not burn.
Keep stirring the pot while holding the handle and you will know that corn has started to pop up, continue the stirring process until all corn is popped. You are done, take out the popcorns and enjoy.
Now we will take two cups of the popped corn and then do some magic.
Let us start with popcorn recipes now.
Caramel Popcorn.
Ingredients
- 2 Cups Popcorn (Popped)
- 250 g Sugar
- Pinch of cardamom or cinnamon powder (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 2 tablespoon melted butter
Directions:
- Line a baking tray with a butter or parchment paper and set aside.
- In a bowl add your popcorns and set aside.
- Now add the butter in the pan on low flame and then add sugar and start melting the sugar in a pot while continuously stirring it. Once you will see that the sugar has started melting make the flame on medium and continue stirring and you will see that the sugar has started turning like liquid and in brown color.
- Once you have brown sugary liquid turn off your flame and add the popcorns from a bowl in the pot and toss and stir the popcorns to mix well.
- When all the popcorns are coated properly transfer them on the tray use spoon to layer them on the sheet and let them settle for 4-5 minutes.
If you like the taste of cardamom or cinnamon then you can sprinkle the powder of any one or both on the popcorn.
Enjoy your cinnamon caramel popcorns.
Chocolate Popcorn Balls
When it comes to chocolate we all raise hands in favor. Like many people around, I love to eat chocolate and try new recipes with it by mixing chocolate with tons of the stuff. Today I will be sharing with you the recipe for popcorn chocolate balls.
The recipe is very quick and I am sure you will like it.
Ingredients:
- 2 cup of melted chocolate (brown or white as you like)
- 2 cups of the popcorns
- 2 teaspoon of sprinkles
- 1 teaspoon finely shredded Coconut (optional)
Directions:
- Like a baking tray with butter paper or parchment sheet.
- Melt your chocolate and transfer your popcorns in chocolate and stir, mix, toss to coat all popcorns properly with chocolate.
- Once all the popcorns are mixed in chocolate with a spoon or ice cream scoop take out a spoon full of chocolate popcorns and place at some distance over the baking tray. If you like you can shape the balls as well with your hands.
- Once done with whole mixture toss sprinkle and coconut on the balls and let them settle for a couple of minutes and then refrigerate for 10-20 minutes (until the balls are stiff and hard).
You are done enjoy chocolate popcorn balls.
Note: If you prefer once the balls are properly refrigerated you can coat them again with melted chocolate. Depends on your taste, I go without doing this.
White chocolate popcorn
We all love the chocolates and if we can blend the amazing taste of chocolate with popcorn then you can imagine the taste and crunch.
- 1 cup White chocolate (melted)
- 2 teaspoon colorful sprinkles
- 2 cups Popcorn Popped
Directions
- Place a butter or parchment paper on any baking tray and set aside.
- Melt the chocolate in a bowl.
- Put popcorn into a large bowl.
- Once the chocolate is melted pour it over top of popcorn and with a spoon or spatula quickly stir the popcorn to coat the popcorn properly with the chocolate. Make sure you do this quickly as the chocolate is likely to be cold again and you may not get the desired coating of popcorn with white chocolate.
- Pour the coated popcorn on baking tray spread them out properly on the tray and with a pinch spread the sprinkles over the top.
- Place the tray in refrigerator for about 10 minutes and then break the slices of the popcorn into bite-size pieces. This should not be perfect, if you like, you can try cutting equal slices but not necessary.
Note: Chocolate can be melted in microwave or over hot simmering water.
Spicy Popcorn
If you love to eat spicy food, you will for sure like to go for spicy popcorns. You can buy popped popcorn and turn them into a spicy treat. Or pop at home and continue with adding the flavor.
