How to make White Sauce?
We are cooking almost every day and when we get bored we move to baking and we need to know how to make the white sauce, as we are using the white sauce in many recipes.
I have learned white sauce recipe from my Aunt years before and continuously, I am using this recipe to make the white sauce.
At times, I go with few variations, like adding some salt and black pepper or sesame seeds depends on choice or the demand for the recipe.
You can use this white sauce for pasta, macaroni, lasagna etc.
Let’s check how to make the white sauce?
Ingredients White Sauce:
This recipe needs just three ingredients.
- 2 tablespoon vegetable oil ( you can use butter or any other oil you need)
- 2 tablespoon All-purpose flour
- 1 cup full-fat milk ( you can use low fat or skimmed milk too)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- pinch of nutmeg (if you like)
Recipe of white sauce;
We always see white sauce used in many recipes and at times buy from the market as well but if you are thinking how to make White Sauce, it is very easy to do it at home in just 5 minutes.
- Take a pan and add oil to it, if you are using butter melt it on low flame.
- Heat up the oil on low flame and add white all purpose flour.
- Using a spoon mix oil and flour and cook for about 2-3 minutes.
- Now you have to add the milk, salt and black pepper and nutmeg.
- Make the flame to the least heating point, slowly and gradually add the milk in the flour and still quickly to avoid the formation of any lumps.
- Cook for 4-6 minutes and when the mixture gets thick turn off the flame and let it cool to room temperature and use the white sauce with any recipe.
Note:
- You can always add a twist to your recipes by adding a layer of white sauce and baking for few minutes.
- Add 2 tablespoon of cream cheese or Mozzarella cheese to have a cheesy texture and taste. But if you are adding cheese on top of white sauce while baking then no need to add inside.
- You can see in the picture, the top caramelised layer is of white sauce.
